MEDINA, OHIO – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) had a great schedule last week while he was in the district, during which he met with constituents, visited businesses, and honored retired Parma Police Chief Joseph Bobak. 

Here are highlights of Congressman Miller’s engagements for the week of February 19 through February 24, 2024:  

THURSDAY, February 22 

·         Congressman Miller met with Pam Manges and Barb Diver, constituents and volunteers with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. During the meeting, the Congressman listened to concerns, including about the importance of funding cancer research. 

·         Congressman Miller visited and toured the Polaris Career Center in Middleburg Heights. Expanding access to career and technical education programs has been one of Congressman Miller’s top priorities since taking office. During the visit, Congressman Miller met with leadership to discuss ways that Congress can assist in developing a skilled workforce. The Congressman also toured the facility and saw the students in action. The visit followed the Congressman’s announcement earlier this week of a bill that would create a federal grant program to raise awareness about career and technical education programs.  

·         Congressman Miller visited and toured Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights. During the visit, the Congressman met with hospital leadership, including President and CEO William Young, to discuss issues relating to healthcare and challenges that the hospital is facing. Congressman Miller also had the opportunity to tour the facility and meet with the hospital’s wonderful healthcare workers. The Congressman was joined by Strongsville government officials, including Mayor Thomas Perciak and Councilmen Gordon Short and Jim Kaminski. 

·         Congressman Miller stopped by the Parma Police department to recognize the recently retired Police Chief, Joseph Bobak. Chief Bobak served with the Parma Police Department for 34 years and is also a veteran of the United States Army. Congressman Miller presented Chief Bobak with a certificate of recognition and one of the Congressman’s challenge coins. During the visit, the Congressman also took the opportunity to discuss public safety with members of the department.  

FRIDAY, February 23 

·         Congressman Miller met with Glenwillow Mayor Mark Cegelka. During the meeting, they discussed the village’s funding needs and the upcoming process for Community Project Funding, which allows Congress to direct federal resources to important local priorities. Finally, the Congressman vowed to be a strong advocate in Washington for the village and its needs.  

SATURDAY, February 24 

·         Congressman Miller attended the Lunar New Year Celebration in Solon presented by the Contemporary Chinese Culture Association. During the event, the Congressman met with constituents, saw incredible artistic performances, listened to traditional Chinese music, and tasted delicious food. The Congressman was joined by Solon Mayor Ed Kraus, State Senator Jerry Cirino, and Contemporary Chinese Culture Association Director BaoChuan Guo. 

·         Congressman Miller attended the Inaugural Ball for Brecksville Mayor Daryl J. Kingston in a celebration of the city’s first new mayor in over 30 years. During the event, the Congressman met with constituents and was able to listen to their concerns and talk about issues impacting the local community. 

·         Congressman Miller attended the Prayer Vigil for Peace in Ukraine at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Downtown Cleveland. During the vigil, which was hosted by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and Greater Cleveland’s Ukrainian Community, the Congressman was able to meet with constituents of Ukrainian descent and express his continuing support for an end to the conflict.
